The SEG Awards Level 2 Award in Counselling Concepts is an introductory qualification designed for anyone interested in developing an understanding of counselling and helping relationships. Whether you are considering a future career in counselling, work in a people-focused role, or simply want to improve your communication skills, this course provides a strong foundation in counselling theory, ethics and self-awareness.

Sessions combine tutor-led teaching with group discussions, practical activities, case studies and opportunities to practise communication skills. Unit 1: The Professional Context of Counselling

This 10 week course takes place during term time and is designed for those who prefer to study during the evening.

  • When: Monday evening
  • Time: 6:15pm to 9:15pm
  • Duration: 10 weeks

Learning journals form an important part of the qualification. Learners will complete a reflective learning journal throughout the course, encouraging critical reflection on:

Assignments are internally assessed by Insight Training and quality assured in line with SEG Awards requirements.

Assessment

There are no examinations for this qualification. Assessment is completed through three written assignments, one for each unit, with an expected word count of approximately 1,000–2,000 words per assignment.
